Loki
FLORA FERMENTATION said on Instagram that it had released Loki the previous week. Based in Higashiomi, Shiga, the brewery continues to build beers around its theme of agriculture and fermentation, and this release again carries a name drawn from mythology: the Norse trickster Loki.
According to the product page, Loki comes in a 350 ml can and is brewed as a Session IPA with 5.0% ABV and 33 IBU. The malt bill includes Northstar Pils and Pale Ale Malt, while the hop mix features Citra, Mosaic, Idaho 7, El Dorado, Chinook, and Cascade from Kami-Furano. The beer also uses Kveik yeast, a strain with Norwegian roots, and is fermented warm to emphasize a lively citrus profile.
The flavor profile centers on tangerine and passion fruit. The aroma is bright, and the hop blend is meant to bring out both tropical character and a dank edge. As a Session IPA, it keeps the body relatively light while still offering enough hop presence to make the beer feel complete.
FLORA FERMENTATION is a brewery that pairs brewing with farming, selecting ingredients through a hands-on approach and giving each beer a name inspired by myth and folklore. Loki fits neatly into that identity: a beer designed to be enjoyed not only for its flavor, but also for the story behind it.
