Hiroshima Neighbor Brewing Reports on Toast Night with Otafuku Sauce
In a March 15 post, Hiroshima Neighbor Brewing reported the conclusion of its collaboration event with Otafuku Sauce, "‘Okonomiyaki’ and ‘Okonomiyaki Ale’ Toast Night." The event began with a brewery tour, and attendees enjoyed food and beer pairings.
According to an Instagram post from Hiroshima Neighbor Brewing (HNB), this project was a collaboration event by Otafuku Sauce, HNB, and Harebare. It was held to commemorate the release of the special collaboration beer "Okonomiyaki Ale," and drew many participants.
The event began with a brewery tour and focused on pairing "okonomiyaki" with "Okonomiyaki Ale." In addition, food menu items made with Otafuku Sauce products such as rakkyo vinegar and tomato mix sauce were served, creating a tasting experience alongside HNB's beers. The post conveyed the lively atmosphere at the venue and noted that the two-hour program flew by.
On the day of the event, a "ki-ki sauce" game was also held, in which participants tried to identify Otafuku's "rich and umami okonomiyaki sauce" from among four sauces. It seems to have become an accent to the event as an interactive activity that let people enjoy the differences in flavor.
The post also announced that "Okonomiyaki Ale" is being sold in cans at Harebare, and that only a small amount of stock remains. For fans who were unable to attend, there is still an opportunity to try it in can form first.
HNB is based in the area east of Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park and started in August 2020 as a microbrewery. With a business style that lets customers enjoy its own beer and food at the same time, it has expanded its connection with local food culture. This initiative can be seen as a collaboration that translates Hiroshima's "okonomiyaki x craft beer" context into a concrete experience.
