GRANDLINE BREWING Announces “KANPAI YOKOSUKA,” the First Beer in Its 3rd Anniversary Project
Yokosuka-based GRANDLINE BREWING has announced “KANPAI YOKOSUKA,” an American IPA created as the first release in its three-beer 3rd anniversary brewing project. The beer is scheduled to be tapped for the first time at the brewery’s anniversary event on October 3 and 4, 2026.
A three-beer project for GRANDLINE BREWING’s third anniversary
GRANDLINE BREWING, a craft brewery in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, will celebrate its third anniversary on October 6, 2026. To mark the occasion, the brewery has launched a project featuring three original beers. The first release is an American IPA named “KANPAI YOKOSUKA.”
Its first tapping is planned for the “GRANDLINE BREWING 3rd Anniversary Event ‘KANPAI YOKOSUKA,’” taking place on October 3 and 4. Owners, brewers, the KANPAIDAN group, and members of the Crypto Beer Project community are expected to gather during the event.
A hop-forward IPA with a nostalgic edge
The beer is described as having an expressive aroma reminiscent of tropical fruit and ripe citrus, followed by a subtle green pine character. A light malt profile brings the elements together, creating an approachable American IPA with a slightly nostalgic impression.
“KANPAI YOKOSUKA” has an alcohol content of 7.0%. Its listed ingredients are barley malt, hops, carrageenan, and carbon dioxide. The beer is designed to represent the brewery’s aim of creating memorable toasts from Yokosuka while connecting beer with the city’s local culture.
A label inspired by Yokosuka’s sukajan culture
The original label features an illustration by Hiromichi Yokochi, a designer known for his sukajan-inspired artwork. Based in Yokosuka’s Dobuita Street, Yokochi researches vintage sukajan motifs and creates new designs in the style of the genre’s early period. He also operates ICHI Dobuita Main Store, a shop showcasing sukajan culture, vintage collections, apparel, and local souvenirs.
GRANDLINE BREWING opened in Yokosuka’s Ogawacho district on October 6, 2023. The brewery describes itself as a place where a new beer adventure begins, producing a broad range of styles including IPA, Hazy IPA, and sour ale. “KANPAI YOKOSUKA” extends that identity through a collaboration with a local creator and a label rooted in the city’s heritage.
The anniversary event will run from noon to 9 p.m. on both days, offering the first chance to experience the new beer as part of GRANDLINE BREWING’s third-anniversary celebration.
