At the beer pub vivo! BEER＋DININGBAR near the east exit of Ikebukuro, preparations for the 16th anniversary are under way. With 20 draft beers on tap, the bar’s appeal is its lineup of craft beers spanning a wide range of styles.
On April 16, the original anniversary beer "16 (sixteen)," brewed by CYCAD BREWING, was tapped early. It is introduced as a dry English golden ale with restrained malt and an orange-like character. The bar positions this beer as a successor to its house ale "42 (forty two)," giving the anniversary a clear sense of continuity.
In addition, from Wednesday, April 22, through Sunday, April 26, the venue will hold "vivo! 16th Anniversary." In addition to tapping two original beers created for the 16th anniversary, the event is scheduled to include distribution of commemorative stickers and pours of rare beers from breweries they work closely with. As of April 19, tap adjustments were also being made in preparation for the anniversary event.
Also appearing on tap that day was Minoh Beer "Session Black IPA." This Black IPA balances the gentle richness of roasted malt with hop aroma, adding a dark beer to the anniversary lineup.
The appeal of the venue is not limited to beer. The food menu, designed to pair well with beer, includes fish and chips with house-made tartar sauce, crispy house-made pizza, prosciutto and mozzarella mille-feuille style, and Zao sausage.
