Beer Workshop Tendo Brewery

Do you know Tendo Brewery? It's a brewery that has been running since 1999, located inside a hot spring inn. It’s brewed on the grounds of the Tendo Onsen ryokan called "Yubou Ichiraku."

Exactly, the concept is "a drink after your bath." Their signature beer is a pilsner called "Soba Dry," which uses Yamagata-grown Sarashina soba as a secondary ingredient. It has a crisp taste with a light aroma of buckwheat.

Not just good, it once ranked first nationwide on the craft beer review site "Beer365." It might sound like an unusual twist when you hear about the soba flavor, but once you drink it, it’s a fully realized beer.

"Angel's Cherry." It's a fruit beer made with Sato Nishiki, the king of Yamagata cherries, and it has an incredibly gorgeous aroma. Because it’s based on the soft spring water of Tendo, the smoothness of the water really comes through too.

On top of that, they were involved in founding the Yamagata Prefecture Craft Beer Promotion Association, so they’ve been one of the driving forces behind the prefecture’s craft beer culture. You can also drink it at the Yamagata cuisine restaurant "DAEDOKO" in Marunouchi, Tokyo, and it's also offered as a hometown tax return gift.
