Special Brew That Makes the Most of Sichuan Pepper Aroma

Kamakura Beer Brewing, based in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has started offering its special brew, "Tianma Saison (Tianmaa Saison)," on draft. The product, which earned high marks at a recent event, is now finally available to enjoy at restaurants.

The defining feature of this beer is its aroma seasoning with Sichuan pepper. Its fresh scent, reminiscent of the green side of Sichuan pepper, layers with the citrus aroma from the hops to give the beer a lively opening on the palate. In addition, the soft mouthfeel of wheat malt brings the whole beer together, creating a balance that keeps the spiciness from becoming too dominant. Rather than a numbing sting, this saison is notable for a refreshing quality that evokes an early-summer breeze.

Draft is being served at three locations: Goodman Coffee Ofuna, Vector Beer Omori, and SIBLINGS. Service periods vary by shop, so it is best to confirm before visiting. Bottled beer is available for reservation through the official online shop, letting fans enjoy it in a form different from draft.

Kamakura Beer has been delivering craft beer meant to be enjoyed with food in the historic city of Kamakura. The company was founded in 1997 and has continued making beers that complement Kamakura's food culture. This "Tianma Saison" is notable as a beer that reflects that philosophy while incorporating the unexpected ingredient of Sichuan pepper.
