Ishikawa Sake Brewery in Fussa City, Tokyo, will hold its annual "Appreciation Day" on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. Founded in the third year of the Bunkyu era (1863), Ishikawa Sake Brewery is a long-established brewery that produces the sake "Tamanojiman" and the craft beers "Tama no Megumi" and "TOKYO BLUES." While making use of its historic earthen storehouses and facilities on the grounds, it balances sake production with events.

This year's Appreciation Day will center on an outdoor market, where limited items unique to a measuring-by-volume event will be available. The highlight is the brewery-direct sake "tank direct-fill limited sake," which is not sold even at the retail shop; for May, the brewery will offer "Bright Junmai Namazake," a junmai sake suited to the early-summer table. Other offerings include barrel sake infused with cedar chips from Tokyo, rare limited-edition beer sold by the measure, and the brewery's original amazake chai, all showcasing Ishikawa Sake Brewery's distinctive approach to fermentation.

The food lineup is also substantial. It ranges from croissant sandwiches from Ootama Ham, pork buns and pizza buns made with TOKYO X pork, an anman filled with sake lees and mascarpone cheese, a direct pickle sale by Kondo Shokuhin, and takeout-only hors d'oeuvres and handmade pressed sushi from the restaurant. Bread and sweets will also be available for those not drinking alcohol, making it an easy stop for families and people looking to sample food and drink.

Brewery tours will also be held. On the 23rd, there will be "A Brewery Tour with the Head Brewer! Enjoy Sake Tasting and Small Bites," and on the 24th, "A Brewery Tour to Enjoy Seasonal Sake and Small Bites." In both cases, craftspeople will guide visitors through the nationally registered tangible cultural property brewery, and participants can experience the atmosphere of the brewery with tastings included. Because reservations are required, advance booking is necessary for anyone considering参加.

The hallmark of Ishikawa Sake Brewery's Appreciation Day is the chance to enjoy the history of a long-established brewery, craft beer and sake sold by the measure, and fermented foods all in one place. It looks set to be two days in Fussa where visitors can enjoy limited-edition sake and seasonal flavors together.
