Ishikawa Brewery in Fussa, Tokyo has released its seasonal Tama no Megumi Blueberry Ale. On Instagram, the brewery described it as available now and noted that it is a limited-batch brew.

A fruit ale with real beer character

According to the brewery’s official site, this is the only fruit beer in the Tama no Megumi lineup. It centers on blueberry fruitiness and a fresh, lively acidity, with hop and malt aromas supporting the profile. The beer is also notable for its vivid color, while still keeping a solid beer-like body.

Brewed at a historic brewery

Ishikawa Brewery dates back to 1863. Its current brewery grounds in Kumagawa, Fussa include historic buildings recognized as Tangible Cultural Properties by Japan, and the site also houses facilities where visitors can enjoy both sake and beer. Tama no Megumi revives the brewery’s beer-making history from the Meiji era and has been brewed again since 1998 using the brewery’s own underground natural water, which is central to the brand.

Suggested pairings

The official site recommends dishes such as teriyaki chicken, maguro no tatsuta-age, sautéed eggplant, egg sandwiches, prosciutto and cress salad, menchi-katsu, cream croquettes, and tomato-sauce pizza. As a seasonal limited beer, it is positioned as a fruit-forward brew that can accompany a meal well.
