Nito Brewing releases the second installment of its hanafuda series, a matcha oat cream IPA
Shiga-based Nito Brewing (TWO RABBITS BREWING COMPANY) has released "-Hanafuda series- Oats Cream IPA <Matcha>" as the second installment in its seasonal project themed around hanafuda cards. Made with domestically produced matcha, the beer is designed to sit between a hazy IPA and a matcha latte, and is available individually for 770 yen and in a six-pack for 4,620 yen.
Nito Brewing's online shop is listing the seasonal limited-edition "-Hanafuda series- Oats Cream IPA <Matcha>." According to the published information, this is the second release in the hanafuda series, which launched in 2026, and its motif is the February card, "Plum Blossoms and Bush Warblers." In keeping with the signs of spring, it is a flavored oat cream IPA centered on domestically produced matcha.
It is sold in 360 ml cans, priced at 770 yen per can or 4,620 yen for a six-pack, including tax. The specs are ABV 6.0% and IBU 15. The ingredients are based on Coopers Pale, Flaked Oats, and White Wheat Malt, with Cashmere and Citra hops, Saturated yeast, plus lactose and matcha from Shiga Prefecture.
The product description says the beer is designed to layer melon-like sweet hop aromas, malt aromas reminiscent of freshly baked bread, and the gentle fragrance of matcha. Its mouthfeel is defined by the creaminess from lactose, and by combining the sweetness of fruit and citrus with hop bitterness and the astringency of matcha, it aims for a layered finish. Because the matcha tends to settle at the bottom of the can, the recommended way to drink it is to pour half, lightly shake the can, and then pour the rest.
Nito Brewing is a Shiga-based brewery whose recipe design crosses European tradition with the craft contexts of Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. With "Beer for everyone" as its brand motto, it has continued to combine imported hops with local ingredients. This matcha IPA folds that policy into a seasonal project, making it a release that showcases both the expressiveness of local ingredients and the drinkability of modern IPA.
