Minoh Beer (Minoh City, Osaka) will release a Father’s Day-themed seasonal beer, 'Papa-Zaru Lager.' It is a recurring product that appears every year around this time, and the package features a father monkey wearing a necktie. Inside, however, is the dark lager that Minoh Beer used to brew as a regular beer.

This beer is characterized by the savory expression of its malt and the clean drinking impression typical of a lager, achieved through slow fermentation and maturation at low temperatures. The description highlights a biscuit-like toastiness, a subtle sweetness of barley, and the layered aroma of noble hops. Its flavor is described as having 'a smooth texture along with a clean bitterness and a refreshing aftertaste.' Rather than flashiness, it is crafted to emphasize a calm, well-balanced drinking experience.

The specs are 5.0% ABV, IBU 28, and brown in color. The ideal drinking temperature is 5 to 8 degrees Celsius, and it is unfiltered. The ingredients are only malt and hops. While preserving the drinkability of a lager, it is designed to also deliver the depth associated with a dark beer.

Minoh Beer is a local brewery born in Minoh, and in addition to classic styles, it also makes beers using yuzu and nearby fruits, as well as beers brewed with wild yeast and sake rice koji. Among its lineup, 'Papa-Zaru Lager' can be seen as a beer that strongly showcases seasonality and playfulness.

Sales begin sequentially at around May 26 for restaurants and liquor retailers, and the official online shop will start selling it from 5:00 p.m. on May 27. It will also be available as an easy choice for Father’s Day gifts. This is a release worth paying attention to as a gentle dark lager that pairs easily with everyday meals.
