Minoh Beer will release the collaboration beer "Ume-chu" to commemorate the anniversary of Mikkeller TOKYO / KIOSK. The base is a pleasantly tart sour beer, to which fully ripened Nanko plums from "Umeyoshi" in Minabe Town, Wakayama Prefecture, are added at the fermentation stage. The recipe from last year has been revised, and this year's version reportedly pushes the sourness and plum presence even further.

The specs are happoshu, 4.0% ABV, and IBU 23. The hops used are Motueka and Saaz, the color is brown, and the flavor is drinkable with a light acidity and a subtle plum aroma. It is unfiltered, designed so you can enjoy the fruit's tartness and umami just as they are.

Minoh Beer is a brewery born in Minoh, Osaka, and began brewing in 1997. While centering on classic staple styles, it has also handled a wide range of seasonal releases using local yuzu and nearby fruits, as well as collaborations. True to the company's commitment to non-heat-treated, unfiltered beer, this release too comes together as a beer that makes the most of local fruit and the contours of fermentation. Sales begin on April 28 at its directly operated WAREHOUSE store, and will roll out sequentially to restaurants and liquor retailers; the official online shop will begin handling it from 5:00 p.m. on April 30.
