A salty lager rooted in Iwate

Baeren Brewery released "Ihatov no Umi" on July 8. The beer uses hops harvested from a field next to the brewery and sea salt boiled down by artisans in Noda Village on the Sanriku coast. According to the brewery, the lager finishes with a clean mouthfeel, subtle mineral notes, and a citrus aroma from the hops.

Based in Morioka, Iwate, Baeren is known as a classic European-style brewery that brews with a kettle more than 100 years old. Its lineup ranges from core beers to seasonal and limited releases, and the company often highlights local ingredients and regional character in its products.

This new release follows that approach closely. By combining Iwate-grown hops with sea salt from the Sanriku area, Baeren has turned a local landscape into a beer style that is both familiar and distinctive. The product is listed on the brewery's official site, along with links to its web shop and Rakuten store.
