Kamakura Beer has released B-san IPA, a limited collaboration beer made for the third anniversary of Btaps Kamakura. Based in Kamakura, the brewery describes itself as the city’s only brewery and has long focused on beers that fit the local landscape and dining culture.

B-san IPA is a special West Coast IPA brewed specifically for the anniversary project. The name combines B for Btaps and Beer, San for 3 and Sun, and arrives at the nickname B-san, evoking a Kamakura beach scene with sandals, sunlight, and a cold beer in hand.

The beer is brewed in a classic style using only malt and hops. According to the brewery, it uses twice the usual amount of hops, bringing citrus aroma, resinous character, and fruitiness to the forefront. The beer pours a bright golden color, finishes dry, and keeps bitterness clean by avoiding harsh astringency. ABV is 6%.

Btaps Kamakura is located in the Kamakura Mark Building, a one-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station’s ticket gates and near the entrance to Komachi Street. With 13 taps and food such as fish and chips, sausages, and Kamakura vegetable salads, it is a casual stop for both locals and visitors. The release links Kamakura Beer’s local identity with one of the city’s most accessible beer bars, making it a fitting anniversary beer for the area.
