Hansharo Beer, based in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture, announced the relaunch of its collaboration beer "Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Beer" with a new label design. The brewery has been making beer since 1997 near the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Drawing on the local climate and its ties to the community, it has continued to roll out limited releases and collaboration products.

This time, the partner is Ramen Young, a popular ramen shop in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The beer was created based on the shop’s signature "Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Ramen," with the theme of "a refreshing beer that goes with ramen." The style is American Pale Ale, and this year the recipe was revised so that the lemon’s fruit character comes across as fresher and lighter.

During brewing, lemon is added even while fermentation is underway, in an effort to enhance the fruitiness. The adjunct ingredient is lemon, and the hops used are Citra, HBC586, Strata, Lemon Drop, and Simcoe. The alcohol content is 4.5%, making it light on the palate. In aroma, citrus notes reminiscent of lemon and grapefruit stand out, while the flavor is designed to deliver a pleasant tartness along with a gentle richness that evokes lemon tea.

The combination of ramen and beer is unusual, but through this project Hansharo Beer is showing the breadth of beer making with food pairing in mind. With its return in a new label design, not only the flavor but also the visual impression has been refreshed. As a beer that works well with meals, it is likely to attract beer fans who enjoy lemon-forward flavors as well.
