COEDO Brewery & Restaurant, based in Kawagoe, Saitama, is offering SUWADA HOUSE ALE (Pear Saison) in limited quantities through its official online shop.

The beer was created in collaboration with SUWADA, a long-established manufacturer in Sanjo, Niigata, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. Its concept draws on “agarizake,” a workmen’s tradition in the Tsubame-Sanjo area of sharing drinks and words of appreciation at the end of the workday. The collaboration translates that spirit into a beer intended to reward a day’s work and provide energy for the next.

SUWADA HOUSE ALE is brewed with malt, pears and hops. Niigata’s Sanjo-grown Le Lectier pear is the defining ingredient, contributing to the beer’s fruity character. COEDO describes it as a refreshing, golden-colored ale. It is brewed in the Pear Saison style, with an alcohol content of 4.5%, and is sold as a six-bottle set of 333ml bottles for ¥4,092.

The brewery recommends serving it well chilled at 4–8°C in a tulip-shaped glass to bring out the pear aroma. The beer is presented as a flexible pairing for both Japanese and Western cuisine, with cheese and white-fish dishes specifically suggested. It may also work well as an after-work beer or as a gift for someone who appreciates craft beer and Japanese craftsmanship.

COEDO has long developed beers that connect local ingredients, culture and experimentation. SUWADA HOUSE ALE extends that approach by bringing together Kawagoe’s craft-beer culture and Tsubame-Sanjo’s manufacturing heritage in a pear-forward seasonal ale. As the release is limited, customers should check availability on the official online shop before ordering.
