Brasserie Knot, located in Tsurui Village on the edge of the Kushiro Wetland, is turning its June seasonal release toward a classic German lager tradition. AWA is a Helles, brewed at 5.0% ABV and 15 IBU, and packaged in 360 ml cans.

Helles originated in Bavaria and is known for its pale golden color, white foam, restrained bitterness, light floral aroma, and clean malt sweetness. That combination makes the style less about loud hop character and more about a calm, well-proportioned finish. AWA follows that approach closely.

The brewery itself operates from a renovated former elementary school in a rural part of Hokkaido. Brasserie Knot describes its work as building connections between people, culture, and nature, while making beers that blend into eastern Hokkaido's landscape. With AWA, that philosophy is expressed through a seasonal beer that keeps its focus on clarity, softness, and balance.
