Huitrière, a brewery based in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, will release AKKESHI AMBER, the second beer in its Hanasaki Line Project, from November 1, 2026. The beer will be available at the Huitrière brewery, through its online store, and at selected retailers.

An amber ale inspired by autumn along the railway

The Hanasaki Line connects Kushiro and Nemuro in eastern Hokkaido. Running through expansive natural landscapes, the local railway has long supported communities along the route. Huitrière’s project expresses the four seasons of the Hanasaki Line through beer, with part of the sales donated to support activities related to the railway.

AKKESHI AMBER is inspired by autumn wetlands, golden grasslands seen from the train window, and skies colored by the setting sun. Four types of malt create notes reminiscent of caramel and biscuits, bringing a warm, lightly toasty character to the beer.

The hop profile adds bright aromas of orange and grapefruit, along with a subtle freshness reminiscent of watermelon. A pleasant bitterness tightens the finish, balancing the malt richness with a lively hop character.

The beer has an ABV of 5.5% and comes in a 350ml package priced at ¥850, including tax. It is a seasonal amber ale designed to be enjoyed while imagining the deepening colors of autumn and the journey of the Hanasaki Line.

Based in Akkeshi, Huitrière creates beers that engage with the landscapes and character of the local region. The Hanasaki Line Project is intended to grow beyond a one-time product release, with seasonal beers planned four times a year. The brewery also plans to promote the railway and surrounding communities through communications and collaboration with local businesses, organizations, and government.
