Kamakura Beer fully launches "Kamakura Beer Nomura Brewery" in Suzhou
Kamakura Beer reported the full launch of its local brewing project at the Mira Xiao She Center commercial complex in Suzhou. Building on its "beer that enhances food" philosophy developed in Kamakura, the company will broaden its presence in China by handling everything from technical guidance for local staff to recipe development.
Kamakura Beer’s project, "Kamakura Beer Nomura Brewery," which has been underway in Suzhou, China, has officially launched. According to the announcement, a ceremony was held on April 26, 2026 at the notable Suzhou destination "Mira Xiao She Center," and locally brewed Kamakura Beer was served to guests.
This initiative was realized through a partnership with "Nomura Creative Japanese Cuisine," led by Noriyoshi Nomura of Navigator Co., Ltd. Kamakura Beer handled the core of the brewing process end to end, from the design of the brewing equipment to recipe development and technical instruction for local staff. Another feature is that a medium-scale facility with an annual production capacity of 180 KL was introduced, with the aim of achieving quality control on par with the Kamakura brewery.
Kamakura Beer is known as the only brewery in Kamakura, based in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Its official website also carries the slogan "Born in Kamakura, raised in Kamakura," and the company has continued to make beer meant to be enjoyed with food in a historic city. That stance remains unchanged in the Suzhou project. There, in response to the challenge of "not having a beer that goes with Japanese cuisine," the company is offering a dedicated recipe designed with harmony with food in mind.
The lineup includes its flagship "Moon (Alt)" and "ROUTE134 (IPA)," along with "Orange Flower (Belgian White)," developed for the local market. The technology and brand trust cultivated in Kamakura are helping support restaurant expansion locally.
Sales of bottled beer are also planned to begin in June 2026. Far beyond simply providing a recipe, this initiative aims to pass on the craftsmanship and spirit refined in Kamakura to Suzhou, and is drawing attention as an example of Kamakura Beer extending its cherished "a glass that accompanies a meal" across borders.
