Uchoten Brewing, which operates a taproom in Suwa, Nagano Prefecture, has unveiled anniversary beers timed to the taproom's second anniversary.

In an Instagram post, the two anniversary beers this time are Irish Red Ale and Irish Dry Stout. Both were brewed with the idea of being "beers that aren't special," aiming instead to be everyday pub ales you can casually enjoy at a pub. Anniversary beers often lean into a flashy limited-edition feel, but Uchoten Brewing has chosen a calmer direction, one that makes drinkers want to keep taking glass after glass.

For the Irish Red Ale, the brewery said it designed the beer by tracing the memory of a flavor it used to see often, noting that a famous brand once familiar in the market has long since become hard to find. The other beer, Irish Dry Stout, is said to aim for a smooth character reminiscent of a classic brand whose impression changes slightly depending on the era. Both styles prioritize drinkability over flashiness, resulting in a beer that feels right for the taproom.

It is scheduled to be served on tap starting with this weekend's 2nd anniversary event. The post also says guidance for beer bars and beer pubs will come a little later, so for now it seems the beers will first be available at the shop in time for the anniversary. These two beers, which turn the everyday beers cultivated in the Suwa taproom into a commemorative release, are also noteworthy for understanding where the brewery stands now.
