A beer that turns kama-tama butter udon into a "large serving"

Setouchi Brewery introduced its latest release on Instagram as the UDON BREWING series' "Kama-Tama Butter Udon Large-Serving TRIPLE HAZY IPA." The beer is modeled after the popular "kama-tama butter udon," and this time it has been crafted around the theme of a "large serving."

The style is Triple Hazy IPA, with an alcohol content of 11.0%. In the post, the brewery explains that it used plenty of Amarillo hops to create a bright, green-apple-like aroma and a crisp finish, while the richness of butter and egg is expressed through the barley-driven mouthfeel. The result is a substantial beer designed to hold its balance even at a warmer serving temperature.

UDON BREWING's identity comes to the forefront

UDON BREWING is Setouchi Brewery's craft beer series from Kagawa, bringing the character of "udon country" to beer. On Instagram, the brewery says it uses Kagawa-grown wheat and treats hop aroma like "dashi," pursuing firmness, gloss, and a deeply layered flavor.

Setouchi Brewery is based in Takamatsu, Kagawa, and continues to create products that reflect the Setouchi region's climate and seasons. Its official site also highlights that the brewery handles everything in-house, from planning and design to brewing, packaging, and shipping, making beers with a clearly defined concept for each series.

Sales through the bottle shop and online

This "Kama-Tama Butter Udon Large-Serving TRIPLE HAZY IPA" will be sold at the brewery's attached bottle shop "Riverside 351" and through the online store. The post also notes that the product photos were taken at Miki Town Hall in Kagawa, showing a desire to deliver the beer together with the scenery of Kagawa.

What makes new UDON BREWING releases interesting is the combination of playful ideas that directly map local food culture onto beer, and the precision of the style design. This time as well, while keeping the udon theme front and center, the brewery is presenting it not as a mere gimmick but as a serious IPA that delivers on drinkability.
