Nomcraft Brewing, based in Aridagawa Town, Arida District, Wakayama Prefecture, has added "NOMCLASSIC Irish Stout" to its lineup as a new entry in the NOMCLASSIC series. Nomcraft is a brewery that renovated an old nursery school into its brewery and promotes "town building through craft beer." With a mixed team of Americans and Japanese, it continues making beers with drinkability in mind, from American styles to classic styles.
This Irish stout is a collaboration with Kyoto Beer Lab. According to the official store information, the style is Irish Stout, the alcohol content is 4.0%, and carbonation is 2.8 volumes. The tasting notes are "Crispy, Dark chocolate, malty," and pairings with smoked nuts, fish and chips, and spare ribs are suggested.
In the brewer's note, it says they aimed to achieve both richness and a sharp roasted character while keeping it easy to drink by using plenty of flaked barley. It is a springtime suggestion, but the key point is that it is designed not to lean too heavily. This is a dark beer that feels at home with everyday meals, very much in Nomcraft's style.
