Minoh Beer releases Weiss IPA, a seasonal wheat-forward IPA
Minoh Beer, based in Minoh, Osaka, has released a new seasonal beer called Weiss IPA on August 21. The beer uses about 50% wheat malt and blends Nelson Sauvin, Dolcita, and Citra for a fruity aroma and gentle bitterness.
Minoh Beer, the brewery based in Minoh City, Osaka, announced its seasonal release "Weiss IPA" on August 21, 2026. Sales started the same day at the brewery's direct shop from 11:00, while bars and retailers are taking the beer in gradually. No sale is planned through the official online shop.
Weiss IPA is described as a new hazy, fruity IPA made with about 50% wheat malt. The hop bill centers on Nelson Sauvin, with Dolcita and Citra added for layering. The result is said to bring aromas of white grape and white flowers, followed by peach, lychee, and citrus notes.
The beer is designed around a soft wheat-driven mouthfeel and a rounded fruit character. It has an IBU of 16, an alcohol content of 5.0%, and is unfiltered with a milky appearance. The recommended serving temperature is 6 to 8°C.
Minoh Beer says the release carries forward the appeal of its earlier Hoppy Weizen, while pushing further toward an IPA that highlights hop character. For drinkers who enjoy wheat beers with a more expressive hop profile, Weiss IPA sits at an interesting intersection of styles.
