A New Release Made with 100% Tono-Grown Hops

GOOD HOPS, which is based in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture and continues efforts to expand the potential of Japanese hops, has released the new product 'Tono Belgian IPA.' Sales began on April 30, and sales for trade accounts started at 3:00 p.m. the same day.

Collaborative Brewing with Kamakura

This beer was jointly brewed after GOOD HOPS and the brewing team at 'Kamakura Yukinoshita Beer Brewery' discussed the recipe. It is a Belgian IPA, and its defining feature is that it uses 100% Tono-grown hops. The centerpiece is Tono-grown IBUKI. By pairing it with Belgian yeast, the beer layers yeast-derived fruity aromas with the herbal character of IBUKI.

A Design Centered on Tono's Identity

GOOD HOPS is a brewery based in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture, that is involved not only in brewing but also in hop cultivation and research and development. On its official website, it states that it is based in Tono, Japan's leading hop-producing region, and aims to expand the possibilities of hops. This Tono Belgian IPA can also be seen as a beer that strongly reflects that stance.

A canned version for general consumers is scheduled for release in mid-May, with distribution to trade accounts getting underway first. How was the aroma of Tono-grown hops expressed within the framework of a Belgian IPA? This new release is drawing attention for the collaboration between the growing region and the brewery.
