Fujizakura Heights Beer Wins Bronze at International Beer Cup 2026
Fujizakura Heights Beer, based in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, has announced that its Schwarzweizen won a bronze medal in the bottle division’s German-Style Wheat Ale category at the International Beer Cup 2026, organized by the Craft Beer Association of Japan.
Fujizakura Heights Beer has announced an award at the International Beer Cup 2026. Its Schwarzweizen received a bronze medal in the bottle division’s German-Style Wheat Ale category.
Schwarzweizen, literally “black wheat beer,” combines the soft, rounded character of a wheat beer with the deeper color and toasted malt notes associated with dark malts. Compared with a pale hefeweizen, it offers a more layered profile, balancing roasted malt aromas with the fuller fragrance and smooth texture created by wheat malt and yeast.
The brewery produces its beers in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, at the foot of Mount Fuji. Drawing on German brewing techniques and the region’s natural environment, Fujizakura Heights Beer is known for a range of German-inspired beers, including Pils, Weizen and Rauch. The brewery has also built an extensive record of recognition at beer competitions in Japan and abroad.
The International Beer Cup is an international judging competition in which beers are evaluated by style. This latest award highlights the brewery’s strength in German-style brewing and the distinctive character of its Schwarzweizen. With its combination of gentle wheat-beer texture and aromatic malt depth, the medal-winning beer is well suited to careful sipping and pairing with savory food.
