A blend of German brewing techniques and American IPA character

Fujizakura Heights Beer has announced its seasonal beer, West Coast IPA 2026. Based in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi, on the northern foothills of Mount Fuji, the brewery will brew the beer exclusively for October.

The release combines the techniques and expertise associated with the brewery’s German-style brewing with the distinctive character of an American-style beer. While using traditional German-inspired brewing methods as its foundation, the beer is designed to showcase the hop-forward appeal of an IPA.

West Coast IPA is a style that developed on the American West Coast. It is generally known for expressive hop aromas, bitterness, and a dry, clean finish. Fujizakura Heights Beer has previously explored American-style beers while applying its German-influenced brewing approach. West Coast IPA 2026 continues that direction, offering the brewery’s own interpretation of the style.

Fujizakura Heights Beer has long brewed a range of beers, including weissbier and pilsner, drawing on Mount Fuji spring water and German brewing traditions. Alongside its classic styles, the brewery has also worked with new hop expressions and different beer styles, making experimentation an important part of its identity.

The beer will be available as an October-limited brew. It should pair well with autumn dishes, while comparing it with the brewery’s regular beers may highlight the contrast between its German-style foundation and the character of an American IPA. For beer fans following seasonal releases from Mount Fuji-area breweries, West Coast IPA 2026 is a release to watch.
