The Grafton Beer Pub & Restaurant in Gotanda posted its daily tap list on June 30. Under the heading “Today’s Craft Beer & Cider on Taps,” the lineup included Guinness, Heineken, Hoegaarden, Magners Cider, Sanktgallen YOKOHAMA XPA Real Ale, Ikari Brewing Irish Red, Ikari Brewing Scottish Brown Real Ale, COEDO Marihana, Pilsner Urquell, Uchu Brewing MONOLITH, Farm & Cidery Kaneshige RICKEY, Smoke Craft PHARAOH, Kakegawa Beer Cloudy Sky, and Black Tide Second Breath.

What stands out is the mix of classic imports and Japanese craft pours in one place. The styles range from real ale to red ale, brown ale, and Hazy IPA, making it a strong tap list for comparison drinking. Among them, Kakegawa Beer Cloudy Sky was introduced as a Hazy IPA, a pint that should show off aroma and a soft, juicy texture.

The pub itself opened in 1998 and sits on a basement floor near Gotanda Station. It has the feel of a proper British-style pub, plus a large screen for sports viewing, which makes it a natural stop for match days. The day’s special food menu also featured oysters, steak and kidney pie, and Welsh faggot, so the beer list is clearly designed with food pairing in mind.
