A limited release built around Izu strawberries

Hansharo Beer Brewing, based in Izu-Nirayama in Izunokuni, Shizuoka, announced its limited beer "Strawberry Weizen – Golden Berry" on June 8. The new release is a fruit Weizen that highlights the character of strawberries grown in Izu, using aroma and flavor rather than visual color to express the fruit.

In the glass, the beer is said to open with a bright strawberry aroma layered with the fruity esters produced by Weizen yeast. Even with generous use of fruit, the beer is deliberately finished in a golden hue rather than a red one. As the name "Golden Berry" suggests, the concept places the focus on aroma and drinking impression over appearance.

On the palate, soft wheat malt brings a gentle mouthfeel, while the finish carries a calm banana-like note typical of the style. The brewery describes it as a light, easy-drinking beer that invites another sip.

Hansharo Beer Brewing has long positioned itself as a craft brewery rooted in Izu-Nirayama, and this release fits that identity well: a local ingredient, a classic yeast character, and a style that balances fruit expression with drinkability.
