Pecora Beer, a small craft brewery in Asao Ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa, has announced its new beer, #063 Ouessant. The beer is brewed in the Micro IPA style at 3.0% ABV, with an IBU of 30.

The recipe uses Mosaic, Cryo Loral, and Cryo Amarillo hops. Bright citrus aromas lead the profile, followed by floral character and a subtle tropical impression. Its light body brings a gentle grain flavor, while moderate bitterness and restrained astringency create a smooth palate.

Ouessant finishes crisp and fresh. It offers expressive hop aroma without the weight of a stronger IPA, making it an approachable option for drinkers who want modern hop character in a lighter beer.

The beer takes its name from the Ouessant sheep, a breed originating on France’s Ouessant Island and known as one of the smallest sheep breeds in the world. The name also fits Pecora Beer’s wider sheep-inspired lineup, which includes beers such as Merino, Black Sheep, and Pecora.

Ouessant is also the first recipe created by brewer Kohei, marking an important step for the brewery. It is Pecora Beer’s first low-alcohol IPA and focuses on balancing drinkability with layered hop aroma.

The beer is available at Pecora Beer Kitchen, the brewery’s taproom, where guests can enjoy up to nine house-made beers alongside food. Comparing Ouessant with other beers in the lineup should offer a clear sense of Pecora Beer’s approach: clean, bold American-style brewing with restrained bitterness.

Light on alcohol but lively in aroma, Ouessant presents a fresh direction for the Kawasaki brewery and is a release worth seeking out at the taproom.
