A new batch of “Java Finch” in clear IPA form
Inkhorn Brewing, based in Mejiro, Toshima City, Tokyo, shared its American IPA “Java Finch 2026 #2” on Instagram. The beer clocks in at 7.0% ABV, and the post notes that cans are expected to be available from next week.
The brewery describes the beer as a clear IPA built around hop-driven notes of pink grapefruit, pineapple, and green mango, layered with a bitterness that carries a pine-resin character. The recipe uses Extra Pils, Extra Pale Ale, and Spelt Malt, along with Citra, Citra Cryo, Krush LUPOMAX, Citra LUPOMAX, Galaxy, and Simcoe Dynaboost.
Java Finch is also the first beer Inkhorn Brewing ever released. The name comes from the finch the brewery lives with; in English, that bird is called a Java Finch or Java Sparrow. The brewery says making this beer better has been one of its goals this year.
Compared with Java Finch from five years ago, the beer has changed substantially, but the core remains: fruitiness, pine-like character, bitterness, and a light body that avoids feeling watery. It is a good example of how the brewery continues to refine a beer that carries personal meaning while keeping it drinkable and crisp.
