In an Instagram post at 12:15 p.m. on March 5, 2026, GOOD HOPS announced a special collaboration using "Murakami Seven." An official news release published the same day clarified the full scope of the project.

The collaboration partner is Spring Valley Brewery (SVB). The key point is that the lineup will consist of a total of four limited-edition beers centered on the rare hop variety "Murakami Seven," whose cultivation volume is still limited. The breakdown is two beers brewed by GOOD HOPS, a LAGER and an IPA, plus one each from SVB Tokyo and SVB Kyoto. The SVB products are also expected to use lupulin powder processed by GOOD HOPS, bringing together both companies' technical expertise in hop aroma design.

"Murakami Seven" is a new variety owned by Kirin Brewery and has been attracting attention as cultivation has expanded in Tono over the past few years. It is said to feature aromas reminiscent of Japanese citrus, muscat, and fig. Even more symbolically, the variety's developer, Atsushi Murakami, is currently the head brewer at GOOD HOPS. This collaboration can be seen as a project made possible precisely because of that connection.

There is also movement on the distribution and sales side. GOOD HOPS canned products are scheduled to be sold through its online shop, with the release date to be announced later. In addition, on April 16, there will be an opportunity to enjoy the collaboration products at SVB Tokyo's 11th anniversary event.

One important piece of background is GOOD HOPS' position. Based in Tono, Iwate Prefecture, the company is a brewery that works end to end not only on brewing, but also on hop cultivation, research, and processing. With a mission to expand the possibilities of Japanese hops, it continues experimenting to connect local agriculture with beer culture. Rather than a one-off publicity stunt, this collaboration is interesting as a practical effort to open up the value of Tono-grown hops to the outside world.
