Grandline Brewing Announces Sansho Ale "Biribiri Nekochop" for Cat Day
GRANDLINE BREWING in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, announced "Biribiri Nekochop," a collaborative beer planned and brewed with Tokyo's VECTOR BREWING to coincide with Cat Day on February 22, 2026. As part of its second-anniversary project, it has been finished as a Sansho Ale that puts the sharp kick of Japanese pepper front and center.
A "Cat Day" Collaboration Realized at the 2nd Anniversary Milestone
On February 21, 2026, GRANDLINE BREWING (Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture) unveiled "Biribiri Nekochop" as a project beer for the following day's Cat Day. This time, the partner was Tokyo's VECTOR BREWING, known for its cat logo. The beer was planned as part of GRANDLINE BREWING's second-anniversary-year project, "BEER OF WONDER (the pursuit of new beer)."
The idea started from the overlap between the anniversary "2" and Cat Day "2/22." Centered on respect for VECTOR BREWING's regular beer "Nekopanchi," GRANDLINE BREWING created a new "neko" creative, and VECTOR BREWING handled the brewing to bring it to completion.
Style Is Sansho Ale, ABV Is 4.0%
The product details are as follows.
- Product name: Biribiri Nekochop
- Beer style: Sansho Ale
- Alcohol by volume: 4.0%
According to the brewing notes, the recipe uses green sansho and Sichuan pepper. The design aims for both citrus-like freshness and a lingering tingle on the tongue, and paired with the lower alcohol content, it is the kind of beer you can enjoy with a meal while watching the aroma evolve.

The Context of a Yokosuka Brewery
GRANDLINE BREWING is a Yokosuka brewery that held its grand opening on October 6, 2023. Officially, it has promoted itself as a "communication brewery unconstrained by conventional thinking," emphasizing messages from the region and collaboration. This "Biribiri Nekochop" release, beyond the buzz of the second-anniversary project, also shows where the brewery stands today by reinterpreting sansho, a Japanese spice, in the context of craft beer.
