A busy October for Otama Brewing

Otama Brewing, a microbrewery based in Sanwa Ward, Joetsu, Niigata, has released its October event schedule. The brewery will appear at beer festivals and food events across Niigata, as well as tasting and sales events in Osaka and Tokyo.

The schedule begins on October 3 with the first “Hontoka. Beer Fest” at a library in Ojiya. Organized by Yamamoto-yama Kogen Beer, the event runs from 10:00 to 20:00. On October 4, Otama Brewing will join the Uonuma October Fest, where breweries from across Niigata will gather from 11:00 to 17:00.

On October 8 and 9, the brewery will hold tastings and bottle sales at the Kintetsu department store in Abeno Harukas, Osaka, as part of a Niigata prefecture fair.

From October 10 through 12, Otama Brewing will participate in Farmers and Kitchen at Kameda Park in Tokyo. The event combines craft beer with good food in a relaxed setting.

The brewery will also attend Jiyugaoka Megami Festival on October 11 and 12. Participating as Omiya Shoten, it plans to sell not only craft beer but also Sechubai sake from Maruyama Shuzojo. Sechubai lees are used in Otama’s Ume No Hana Hazy IPA, highlighting the brewery’s connection to local producers.

On October 17 and 18, visitors can find Otama Brewing at the Echigo Kenshin Sake Festival on Takada Honcho-dori in Joetsu. The month concludes on October 25 at the Autumn Harvest Festival featuring Itoigawa wild boar and new rice in Naoetsu, where craft beer will be paired with game cuisine.

Otama Brewing takes advantage of Joetsu’s water and agricultural ingredients, focusing mainly on American-style ales that combine distinctive aromas with drinkability. October’s events offer several chances to explore those beers alongside regional food and sake.
