Moji Port Beer Workshop Releases Recovery Support Weizen Using Amakusa Shiranui
Moji Port Beer Workshop in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, has unveiled "Amakusa Shiranui Weizen," a recovery support beer timed to the 10th anniversary of the Kumamoto earthquake. It uses shiranui from Amakusa, and part of the sales will be donated to regional revitalization efforts in Kumamoto.
Fukuoka and Kitakyushu’s Moji Port Beer Workshop introduced Amakusa Shiranui Weizen, a recovery support beer for the Kumamoto earthquake. On its website, the brewery says the product was planned for the milestone of 10 years since the earthquake, with the aim of keeping the spirit of recovery from fading and widening the circle of support.
This beer is part of an all-Kyushu support project promoted by the Kyushu Craft Beer Association. The article places it within efforts that look back on the path since the disaster while wishing for Kumamoto’s future growth. The support concept is organized into three ideas: not forgetting and being prepared, one glass becoming strength, and the bonds of Kyushu connecting people.
The brand name "Amakusa Shiranui Weizen" refers to a weizen made with shiranui from Amakusa. According to the article, it aims for a refreshing, layered flavor in which the acidity blends into the beer, using shiranui grown by Amakusa’s rich sea breeze and sunshine. The label carries the message "HOPe STEP JUMP for KUMAMOTO," reflecting the intention to support Kumamoto’s future.
In addition, part of the sales will be donated for the revitalization of the Kumamoto region. The article says the funds will be used as support money to help create Kumamoto’s tomorrow, including support for post-disaster recovery, and notes that the project was planned and supervised by the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun.
Moji Port Beer Workshop describes itself on its official website as a brewery offering "freshly made craft beer and chef-special dishes." A shop that has valued enjoying beer together with meals is now releasing a brew that combines local ingredients with a social message.
Purchases are available through the online shop’s "Choose Your Set" option, with sets of 6, 10, 12, or 30 bottles. In addition to being easy to drink as a craft beer, it is designed to be an approachable glass that also supports Kumamoto.
