Nutori Brewing to Hold the Yokote-Ugo Beer Gathering from March 20 to 22
Nutori Brewing (Beer Shokudo Nutori) in Kawaguchi, Saitama, will hold the "Yokote-Ugo Beer Gathering" from March 20 to 22. In addition to tapping beers brewed with makers from southern Akita, a special event featuring a guest chef is planned for the final day.
In an Instagram post on March 9, Nutori Brewing announced the event "3/20-22 All of Akita's southern colors on full blast! The Yokote-Ugo Beer Gathering at Nutori". The post says the annual "Ugo to Nutori" event is coming back "bigger and better."
The focus this time is on a tapping event that makes the most of people and ingredients from Akita. The announced lineup is as follows.
- Tap the beer brewed together with Ugo Beer
- Tap the beer made with "Yokote Hops," brewed together with hop farmer Mitou
- Food program using Akita specialties (teased in the post as "Burrito? Shumai?")
In addition, people involved on the Ugo side and Mitou, the Yokote hop farmer, are expected to be present throughout the event. On Sunday the 22nd, there will also be an outdoor cooking program by guest chef Honma.
Nutori, the venue, operates a brewery-adjacent taproom in the Kawaguchi area of Saitama Prefecture and has promoted its house-brewed beer and "nourishing meals." Its official site also emphasizes a style where beer can be enjoyed both on-site and to go, and this kind of effort to create a place where visitors can not only drink but also meet the people behind the beer feels very much like Nutori.
For three days, visitors can experience ingredients, people, and food from southern Akita in a layered way at a taproom in Saitama. In addition to comparing collaboration beers, it looks like an event worth enjoying for the stories from the brewers and producers as well.
