Hop Kotan Brewing, based in Kamifurano, Hokkaido, will hold an onboard beer sale on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, aboard JR Hokkaido's sightseeing train Man-Kitsu Norokko. The brewery says the event is returning after drawing a positive response last year, and this year's edition is tied to the train's final run.

The Man-Kitsu Norokko train travels from Asahikawa to Furano, stopping for 20 minutes each at Biei, Kamifurano, and Nakafurano. For 28 years, it has been loved by visitors and local residents alike as a way to enjoy Hokkaido's scenery through its large windows. In the brewery's post, the final summer of the train is presented as a moment to celebrate together.

This time, Hop Kotan will offer two of its regular beers, upopo and haskap. Unlike last year, the beers will be sold in bottles rather than from a keg, and takeaway will not be allowed. Guests will need to open and drink them on the spot. Sales will take place at the counter in Car 1 of the Man-Kitsu Norokko train, and additional trains will also carry the beers while supplies last.

Hop Kotan Brewing is a brewery in Kamifurano, Hokkaido, known for beer that reflects local character. The upcoming train sale connects landscape, rail travel, and beer in a way that should appeal to visitors looking for a memorable summer trip in Hokkaido.
