Himitsu Beer in Ise introduces the extra hoppy ale “Sametare”
Himitsu Beer of Ise, Mie, introduced its 4.5% ABV extra hoppy ale “Sametare” alongside a warehouse anecdote about a bird dropping from the attic. The brewery presents it as a hop-forward beer with firm bitterness, following a well-received release from last year.
Himitsu Beer of Ise, Mie, introduced its beer “Sametare” alongside a small warehouse anecdote: while working in the storeroom, a bird suddenly dropped down from the attic. The post says the surprise briefly stopped their hands, and that they had repeatedly seen a parent bird entering the roof space.
“Sametare” is an EXTRA HOPPY ALE at 4.5% ABV. It is brewed with plenty of European hops and dry-hopped for aroma, bringing out green, grassy notes and a dry, straw-like impression. At the same time, the brewery says its house yeast adds stone-fruit and pear-like aromas at the top, softening the edges of the hop profile.
The beer is built around bold hop presence, firm bitterness, and a dry finish. Himitsu Beer describes it as, at present, the most bitter beer in its lineup. It is also presented as a good match for vinegary dishes such as fish pickles and aji nanban-zuke, and may appeal to fans of lager, saison, farmhouse, or Belgian-style beers.
Based in Ise, Mie, Himitsu Beer continues to present beers shaped by season and place. In this post, a small surprise in the warehouse becomes a neat introduction to the character of the beer itself.
