Himitsu Beer, based in Ise, Mie, introduced a new West Coast Lager called Kamonohashi Lager. In the post, the brewery also mentions a recent visit to a neighborhood izakaya and says it wants to keep making beers that fit seasonal dishes as well as the season itself.

The beer comes in at 5% ABV and is built from malt and hops only, with no adjuncts. A pale, light-bodied malt bill gives it a crisp, easy-drinking structure while still leaving room for a clear malt presence.

The hop profile centers on a Hallertau-like variety with lemony citrus and a spicy edge, then layers in Krush and Citra for lime, orange, and tropical fruit notes. The result is a lager with the bright aroma of an IPA, but a cleaner, more refreshing finish and balanced bitterness.

Himitsu Beer has become known for expressive, often limited releases that make use of local character and playful ingredient choices. This one is built for hot days, but it should also work well at the table, especially with seafood or Japanese dishes.
