Himitsu Beer, based in Ise, Mie, introduced Kawauso Saison in a summer post. The brewery framed it as the day’s release and also noted the appeal of drinking beer by the sea.

Kawauso Saison is an EXTRA Farmhouse Ale at 5% ABV. According to the post, it was built without adjuncts, relying instead on wort design, hops, and yeast character to create layers of flavor. The result is described as a clean-bodied beer with firm malt depth, yeast-derived peach and berry esters, and herbal, spicy noble hop aromas that bring to mind a well-made lager.

The brewery emphasizes balance. Even with many flavor elements in play, the beer is said to come together cleanly in the glass. It is hop-forward and highly drinkable, yet still shows fruitiness and green, herbal notes, allowing the malt, yeast, and hops to be appreciated one after another. The medium-light body helps hold everything together, making it an easy fit with food.

Himitsu Beer also suggests the beer works well fresh, while still leaving room for a bit of time in the fridge to see how it develops. For a brewery in coastal Ise, that makes Kawauso Saison a practical everyday beer as well as a small treat for a meal with a little more occasion.
