Pekora Beer, located in Aso Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is a craft brewery where the representative, who holds a beer judge certification, handles the brewing. Centered on clean, bold American styles with restrained bitterness, it also operates the attached "Pekora Beer Kitchen," which serves up to nine house-brewed beers.

The new release unveiled on Instagram this time is #051 Fleece. On the website, it is introduced as part of Pekora Beer's beer series, and this batch has been brewed as a DDH New England IPA.

Beer Features

- Style: DDH New England IPA
- ABV: 6.5%
- IBU: 19
- Hops used: Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin, Dynaboost Mosaic, Mosaic Quantum

According to the description, it is a hazy beer characterized by a burst of tropical hop aroma, aiming for juicy aromatics and a smooth mouthfeel. Three hops are layered in a low-temperature steep, and the second dry hop adds Mosaic Quantum, a liquid hop concentrate from Abstrax Tech. Despite its rich appearance, it is said to finish with a refreshing drinkability.

The name "Fleece" refers to the wool from a single sheep. It folds that soft impression directly into the beer's name, giving it a playful touch that feels unmistakably Pekora Beer. Incidentally, this label won a bronze medal in the Keg category Hazy Imperial India Pale Ale at the International Beer Cup 2025, and this release can be seen as a new development in that lineage.

Fleece is not the kind of beer that wins you over through sheer flashiness; it is designed to keep you drinking through the balance of layered aromas and mouthfeel. It is a beer worth noting for anyone who wants to see how the Kawasaki-based brewery is updating the appeal of NEIPA.
