GOOD HOPS, a brewery based in Tono, Iwate, has announced special taproom operations to coincide with Tono Festival. The special schedule runs from September 19 through 23, giving festival visitors more opportunities to enjoy beer brewed in the hop-growing region.

On Saturday, September 19, the taproom will be open from 11:00 to 20:00, with last orders at 19:30. From September 20 through 23, it will follow its regular hours of 11:00 to 18:00, with last orders at 17:30. The taproom is located about a two-minute walk from Tono Station and offers freshly made beer in a space overlooking the brewing equipment.

As part of the celebration, GOOD HOPS will provide one complimentary medium beer to participants involved in local traditional performing arts. The initiative connects the brewery’s beers with one of Tono’s important community events.

The planned tap list includes uncountable Pale Ale, Summer Grow, HOP FARMERS IPA, Tono IBUKI IPA, and Ginga. Once HOP FARMERS IPA runs out, it will be replaced by the new LUPULIN MIX. The beer uses lupulin from Tono-grown hops together with lupulin pellets made from overseas hops.

GOOD HOPS works across hop cultivation, research, processing, and brewing in Tono, one of Japan’s leading hop-producing areas. Its lineup includes beers made with 100% Tono-grown hops as well as experimental releases featuring new hop varieties.

The brewery’s online shop is also offering free shipping through September 30, including shipments arranged for canned beer purchased at the taproom. Visitors attending Tono Festival can make the most of the trip by stopping at GOOD HOPS for a beer that reflects the character of the region.
