On April 16, Omi Beer, a craft brewery in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, unveiled its new limited-batch release, 'Dekopon Juicy Ale.'

On its official website, the brewery describes itself as "the smallest nano brewery among small breweries." This latest release is also being positioned as a beer to enjoy now, in this season, made possible by that agility.

This beer is part of Omi Beer's "Our Own Local Series." The ingredient used is Dekopon from an orchard in Kami-Mitani, Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture. According to the brewery, the connection to the ingredient came through its event captain, "Chii-chan." Selecting ingredients with this kind of story is very much in keeping with Omi Beer's approach of valuing regional character.

The specifications are as follows.

- Style: Juicy Ale
- Alcohol by volume: 5.5%
- IBU: 10
- Adjunct: Dekopon

In the description, it is presented as a beer with bursting Dekopon aroma and a gentle citrus nuance that spreads through the palate. Bitterness is kept low, suggesting a design that puts the brightness derived from the fruit front and center. While it still offers a solid drinking experience, it also seems finished in a way that makes it easy to reach for as the seasons change.

Based in Otsu, Shiga, Omi Beer is a brewery that consistently releases limited-batch and seasonal products. For beer lovers who want to enjoy not only local drinking culture but also the origin and background of the ingredients, this latest release is another one worth paying attention to.
