Omi Beer, a nano brewery based in Otsu, Shiga, has opened reservations for a limited beer set supporting farmers in Kumamoto.
The “Kumamoto Support Beer Six-Bottle Set” includes three limited beers made with muscat grapes from Morita Farm in Hikawa, Yoshino pears from Hikawa, and grapes from Toyono in Uki. The remaining three bottles are selected from Omi Beer’s regular lineup, bringing together Kumamoto fruit and the brewery’s established beers in one package.
The set contains six bottles and costs ¥6,600, including tax and excluding shipping. Shipping is scheduled to begin sequentially around mid-October. The set is available in limited quantities, and reservations are being accepted through the link to Omi Beer’s official online shop. Approximately 30% of sales will be returned to people in Kumamoto.
Omi Beer is a small brewery in Otsu that focuses on expressing the character of local ingredients through craft beer. Its brews are made in batches of approximately 100 liters, allowing the brewery to experiment with ingredients such as fruit and koji. Its lineup includes Koji Ale, Biwako IPA, Stout, and a range of seasonal and limited beers.
The project began after the brewery learned about the difficult circumstances facing Kumamoto farmers following an earthquake. Omi Beer is also scheduled to participate in a bon dance event in Tamana, Kumamoto, on September 21.
By turning Kumamoto fruit into beer, the project connects the brewery in Shiga with producers in Kyushu. For drinkers, the set offers a chance to explore fruit-driven limited beers while supporting the region that supplied their ingredients.
