Nomcraft Brewing in Aridagawa Town, Wakayama, introduced "Krusher West Coast Pils," created in collaboration with Tall Boys Brewing in Nagoya. It is a West Coast Pilsner-style beer that uses lager yeast while pushing the hop presence to the forefront.
Nomcraft Brewing is featuring its collaboration beer with Tall Boys Brewing, "Krusher West Coast Pils." Nomcraft is a brewery in Aridagawa Town, Aridagawa District, Wakayama Prefecture, where it brews in a renovated former nursery school. It has balanced local community building with hop-forward beer making.
This collaboration combines Nomcraft's knowledge of IPA brewing with Tall Boys Brewing's strengths in lager brewing. According to Tall Boys Brewing's introduction, the beer is Krusher West Coast Pils. It has an ABV of 6.0% and an IBU of 69, uses Alora, Krush Cryo, Luminosa, and Saaz T45, and is brewed with German lager yeast that brings out thiols.
In terms of flavor, it is designed around fruitiness like mango, papaya, and melon, layered with citrus bitterness. It is a style that overlays IPA-like hop aroma onto a crisp lager finish, clearly expressing the defining traits of a West Coast Pilsner.
Nomcraft has long built relationships and collaborations with breweries in Japan and abroad, and this project once again reflects that strength. It is a beer worth watching as an effort to expand its stylistic range while remaining based in Aridagawa Town.
