Outdoor Sales Timed to Kokura Castle’s Cherry Blossom Viewing
Moji Port Craft Beer Workshop (Kitakyushu) announced in an Instagram post on March 27 that it would be selling beer next to Kokura Castle Shiro Terrace. The sales period runs from March 26 to April 5. In step with the spring outing season, the setup is aimed at people walking around the castle area.
The post said that as of March 27, the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms were still only starting to appear here and there, while the Higan cherry blossoms were in good bloom. Even while waiting for the peak of cherry blossom viewing, it is a good time to enjoy a drink while feeling the changing season.
On sale are draft pale ale and canned yuzu wheat ale, which is being touted for its fresh, springlike flavor. In addition, house-made handmade sausages are also available, creating a lineup that lets visitors enjoy a drink with a light snack.
Moji Port Craft Beer Workshop is a brewery based in the Moji Port area, and its official website also introduces the restaurant “MOJIKO BEER HOUSE.” Inside, it serves Weizen, pale ale, Sakura Beer, pilsner, and limited items such as yuzu wheat ale, making it a place where a wide range of locally developed flavors can be enjoyed.
This sales effort at Kokura Castle can be seen as bringing that brewery’s character straight into a spring city event. Combined with a stroll around the castle or cherry blossom viewing, it should be a chance to taste a drink that feels distinctly like a Kitakyushu local brewery.
