Nagano-based Shiga Kogen Beer (Tamamura Honten) has released a new co-brew with Minoh Beer: "Barrel-Aged Yamabushi taro “grand cru”". The product number is 468. The listed price on the official store is 3,300 yen (tax included).

This beer follows the collaboration line that began with "MONKEY & DRAGON," first brewed on the Minoh Beer side, and Tamamura Honten also brewed its own batch in November 2023. The base is not a weizen but a saison, made with plenty of Hakuhou peaches, a specialty of Minoh Beer, with peaches added a second time before being aged in wooden barrels.

The "grand cru" version shares its base with the previously released canned version, but is a bottle format finished in barrels from a famous Bordeaux château. After long aging and repeated tastings, the release finally arrived after crossing another milestone for Tamamura Honten.

The style is barrel-aged fruit ale. It comes in a 750 ml bottle and has an alcohol content of 6.5%. Its aroma is centered on white peach, layered with oak notes from the barrel, and it is said to feature a complex profile with acidity and dryness. Among the wooden-barrel-aged "Yamabushi" series, the acidity is not overly strong; the design aims for a balance between peach character and aged depth.

Shiga Kogen Beer, based in Nagano, has built up its wooden-barrel and aging expression through its own "Yamabushi" series. This bottle combines that context with its relationship with Minoh Beer and the character of peach, making it a collaboration release in every sense.
