Shiga Kogen Beer releases barrel-aged "Yamabushi blonde #6" in 500 ml cans
Tamamura Honten in Nagano (Shiga Kogen Beer) published the new release in its barrel-aging series, "Barrel-Aged Yamabushi blonde 500ml can [Product No. 467]," at 1:55 p.m. on March 10, 2026. It is a barrel-aged blonde ale blended from base beers that were matured for a long time, mainly in wine barrels.
From Tamamura Honten, the brewery in Shiga Kogen, Nagano, that produces the sake "Enki" and "Shiga Kogen Beer," comes the latest batch of the sour ale that serves as a core label in the Yamabushi series. The product name is Barrel-Aged Yamabushi / blonde #6. The name shown in the official online store is "Barrel-Aged Yamabushi blonde 500ml can [Product No. 467]."
According to the official description, this batch is a blend of six casks. Of those, five are wine barrels aged for more than five years, and one uses base beer aged for more than four years in the large cask used for the SWAN LAKE collaboration. The aroma carries notes reminiscent of lemon, Japanese citrus, and mint. The flavor is said to layer a complex, gentle acidity similar to natural wine or orange wine with sweetness derived from oak.

For pairing, cream-based dishes and grilled fish are recommended, with a clear preference for Western-style food. The bottle version of the same batch is already listed as sold out, so the can release should be especially valuable. For drinkers who have followed Yamabushi's signature acidic expression, this looks like a bottle to taste not just as something they've had before, but to compare the differences between batches.
