The re-release designed to be “something you want to drink after a run”

Yellow Monkey Brewing (YMB) re-released “GOHOBI IPA,” a beer born from its connection to running culture. The announcement came on February 14, 2026. On the same day, “Hashiru Ale Special Edition” was also released, making this a moment when the brewery’s running-focused offerings overlapped.

The origin of this beer goes back to Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2025 in late February 2025. In collaboration with the running media/community Runtrip, YMB rolled out “GOHOBI Lager” and “GOHOBI IPA.” For this re-release, the brewery kept the original concept intact while revisiting the recipe and steering it toward a more contemporary drinking experience.

A flavor design centered on aroma and gentle bitterness

According to official information, the new GOHOBI IPA is designed to reduce bitterness and bring the rich aroma of hops to the forefront. It also uses YMB’s signature sake yeast fermentation, aiming for a crisp finish and a soft flavor profile with a subtle Japanese nuance. The style is New Zealand IPA. The balance is meant to suit both the post-workout high and a relaxed moment.

A Yokohama brewery linking beer and sports

Based in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa, YMB was founded in 2023. Its mission is to “connect people through beer and sports and spread smiles.” GOHOBI IPA is more than just the return of a new product; as a beer that links the brewery’s philosophy with the runner community, it seems to symbolize YMB’s direction.

Details on sales information can be found on YMB’s official blog and online store.
