Yokogawa Brewery

There’s a nanobrewery with just 10 seats, a 2-minute walk from JR Yokogawa Station in Hiroshima. It’s called Yokogawa BREWERY.

It’s a brewery even smaller than a microbrewery. Here, the first floor has a counter, and the second floor has relaxed seating, giving it a cafe-like atmosphere. You can drop in alone, and it also attracts many women.

“Yokogawa Pale Ale” is the standard pale ale named after the neighborhood. “Vic Secret” is a beer made with Australian Vic Secret hops; those hops give off tropical aromas like passion fruit and pineapple. “YOKOGAWA Black” is a dark beer, and there’s also a brown ale called “Fleur Brown,” inspired by flowers.

Because the brewery is right in the middle of town, one of its strengths is being able to serve beer straight from the tap, freshly brewed. Beer that hasn’t deteriorated during distribution really is a different thing. It’s also nice that you can choose a glass that suits your taste while consulting with the owner.

They regularly hold an event called “Craft Beer and Otomo,” where you can enjoy craft beer paired with aromas, curry, chocolate, and more. It feels like the whole Yokogawa neighborhood is getting energized together.
