Brewpub Têtard Vallée, located right between Temmabashi and Tanimachi 4-chome, is the first location opened by Hirotoshi Matsuo, the same person we just talked about at Center Point.

Really, the same person! Têtard Vallée... that sounds kind of French, but what does it mean?

In French, "Têtard" means tadpole and "Vallée" means valley. Since it's in Tanimachi, the name is a clever play on words meaning "the tadpole in the valley."
Mugi
Cute! A brewpub of tadpoles! But why did he start making beer in the first place?

After more than 10 years working in food service, Matsuo came up with the idea that craft beer tastes great, but buying it from a manufacturer makes it expensive. If he brewed it himself, he could offer it more cheaply. That led him to apprentice for three years at Kotobuki Shuzo, the brewery behind Kunikunochou Beer, where he was taught brewing from the ground up.

The motivation to deliver good beer cheaply to customers really hits home...

And the key feature here is that each batch is only 200 liters, making it a nanobrewery. With direct-fire heating equipment, being small means they can keep releasing a wide variety of beers one after another. For example, there's a gose made with lemon and salt called "Salty Lemon Kiss," and also "Oatmeal Stout."
Mugi
200 liters!? That's incredibly small. A gose called Salty Lemon Kiss already sounds delicious...

What's more, many of the beers are designed as food-pairing drinks with bitterness kept around the 30 IBU range. Another pillar here is the bistrot-style cuisine centered on large cuts of meat, and the beer lineup is designed to be enjoyed with the roast cuts that come out around 7:30 p.m. every night. Beers like "Robust Porter" bring out a stronger malt sweetness, making them an excellent match for the meat.
Mugi
Beer and large cuts of meat coming out of the same place? That sounds too luxurious! I'm also curious about those tables made from slices of logs.

They're open straight through from 11 a.m., so you can have lunch with a beer from daytime onward. Osaka Castle is nearby too, so it's nice that you can just stop by casually while out for a walk.
