Beppu Brewery in Beppu, Oita, has unveiled COCO Yu-Topia, a smoothie sour ale made with mango, pink guava, and coconut. The 3.0% ABV beer will get an early release at the 2026 Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival, held from May 13 to May 17.
A dense, tropical new release
Beppu Brewery has introduced COCO Yu-Topia, a smoothie sour ale built around mango, pink guava, and coconut. The brewery describes it as a juicy, drinkable beer that feels like a fruit smoothie in beer form. It comes in at 3.0% ABV.
According to the release, the beer opens with a soft, sweet coconut aroma, followed by bright tropical notes reminiscent of mango, pink guava, and cherry. On the palate, it is said to have a thick, smooth texture with layers of mango sweetness, guava character, gentle strawberry-like acidity, and a light pineapple lift. A cherry-like tart finish ties the profile together, keeping the beer rich but approachable.
The beer will see an early launch at the 2026 Keyaki Hiroba Spring Beer Festival, from May 13 to May 17. It is also listed as on sale through the brewery's consumer and wholesale EC channels, while bottle service has already started at the restaurant. Draft service is planned for a later date.
Beppu Brewery is located in Ekimae-machi, Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, and opened in December 2022. As a brewery and restaurant near Beppu Station, it has centered its identity on the city's hot-spring culture and the idea of an after-bath beer. COCO Yu-Topia fits that direction as a fruit-forward, dessert-like addition to the lineup.
Alongside its core beers, which include pilsner, hazy pale ale, kabosu saison, red IPA, and hard seltzer, the brewery continues to develop beers that reflect Beppu's local character. This new release pushes further into a richer, more tropical flavor space.
